When things start breakin down

Nope, it didn't work... I tried to post from You Tube. Try this link to the I Love Lucy episode. Just click on the link and you will go to You tube.

Hopefully this will work. I miss my little computer friend that used to help me with such things. ... My SIL, (Ethel), and I were talking last night and she reminded me of this episode. This is SO how I feel. A bumb leg, coughing non stop ( and all the problems that come with that for those of us girls who are of a certain age....come on now girls....you know what I mean) refluxing continuous it feels. Elevated temp, runny nose. can't breath.....blah, blah, blah, and oh don't forget the hot flashes in the mix of things. There was a lady I saw in a parking lot at the medical center as I was leaving with my crutches asking if I needed help. I just dropped my head and laughed. She laughed as well and said she had asked her mama....why didn't you tell me how this was going to be....she then laughed and said her mama told her she would not have believed her.....oh how true. and they are talking about snow again tonight. When will this end??? Come on spring time.
A little sunshine could make one feel better.

I saw this on the internet today, thought it was cute.

Women power! A joke story about letting menopausal women loose in Afghanistan to take care of terrorism.
Take all American women who are within five years of menopause. Train us for a few weeks, outfit us with automatic weapons, grenades, gas masks, moisturizer with SPF15, Prozac, hormones, chocolate, and canned tuna - drop us (parachuted, preferably) across the landscape of Afghanistan, and let us do what comes naturally.

Baby Wipes Made at Home

Having twins in the family we use LOTS of baby wipes. The other day I happened to find this on the internet and thought I would give it a try. I really do like them, probably better than the name brand. The smell is wonderful and we don't have to worry about any harsh or drying chemicals touching our babies bottom.

The process is easy and only takes about 15 minutes. This is my first tutorial so hopefully it is helpful.

Products needed: Round plastic container, thick paper towels, sharp knife, 2 cups water that has been boiled and cooled to room temp. 2 tablespoons baby shampoo or baby wash, 1 tablespoon baby oil. We like lavender so you see that is what I chose.

First, start by boiling 2 cups water and let cool to room temp.

Cut roll of paper towels in half with a sharp knife. I would suggest smooth blade not serrated.

Remove the inner cardboard core.
Mix the ingredients in container. Place the paper towels in the container with the cut side facing downward. Secure lid tightly and allow to set until all liquid is absorbed into the paper towels.
Turn the container upside-down and allow to sit for 10 mins.
Open the container and 'start' the roll by pulling a towel from the inside of the roll.
Wipes are now ready to use. I really like them and will save a TON of money. They are gently enough to be used to remove make-up as well. The smell of lavender is so much better than that 'other' smell you get with commercial wipes. Let me know how you like them.

Martha's Way/Maxine's Way

Martha's Way:
Stuff a miniature marshmallow in the bottom of
a sugar cone to prevent ice cream drips.

Maxine's Way:
Just suck the ice cream out of the bottom of the cone, for Pete's sake! You are probably lying on the couch with your feet up eating it,anyway!

Martha's Way:
Wrap celery in aluminum foil when putting in the refrigerator and it will keep for weeks.

Maxine's Way:
Celery?? Never heard of it!

Martha's Way: Brush some beaten egg white over pie crust before baking to yield a beautiful glossy finish.

Maxine's Way: The Mrs. Smith frozen
pie directions do not include brushing
egg whites over the crust so I don't.

Martha's Way: If you accidently over
salt a dish while still cooking, drop
in a peeling potatoe and it will absorb
the excess salt for an instant "fix".

Maxine's Way: If you oversalt..that's
too bad. Please recite with me the
real woman's motto: "I made it and
you will eat it and I don't care how bad it tastes!"

Martha's Way: Don't throw out all
that left over wine. Freeze into
ice cubes for future use in casseroles and sauces.

Maxine's Way: Leftover wine???????? HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't Maxine just a HOOT???? HAHAHA!!!!!

Crosses We Bear

We complain about the cross we bear but don't realize it is preparing us for the dip in the road that God can see and we cannot. My sweet SIL sent me this in an e-mail. Please GOD help me not to complain, but seek Your face for strength and courage to carry my cross for You.

Unidentified Object

The neighborhood is "up in arms" this morning. Upon arising this morning, this is what we saw.
We asked, "What could this thing be?" I think it may be the SUN...could this be????
We have thawed out from 5 inches of snow...then as it melted we had to deal with the ice. (Please don't laugh ......all my bloggin friends that have gotten MUCH more snow than central MS...you must understand we NEVER get snow like this) In some places it was 'black ice". See my entry "writing u
nder the influence" for a good laugh and snort!! Weatherman says this week we should return to "normal" temps for our area.
I am way over due for my dose of Vitam
in D. Come on spring time and some warmer weather. I am so ready for sun on my face and sand on my toes!!!!
Yipee!! Yipee!!
P.S. This was the scene as I left for work tonight....the end to a beautiful day. Good night everyone. Rest well.

Writing Under the Influence

What is a girl to do? Someone keeps posting my picture on the internet!! HA!! Just kiddin. Sorry Sara for your fall, but apparently there is an art to "falling on ice". One I have neglected to learn. As we all know the Winter Olympics Opening ceremony was last night. I watched as long as I could before falling asleep not out of boredom but just was tired....anyway..I thought well...maybe I could make it as a "walk on" ( you know like they do on football teams! HA ) ...I had to get up at 5:30 this morning to go to work. There is still snow and ice everywhere....long story...short version....As I was getting out of my vehicle my feet hit a patch of "black ice" and down I went or maybe I should say UP I went then down with a squeal like a sissy girl!! One leg went one direction, the other leg went into some weird awkward twist..down I went on the backside....Oh my golly wow!!! What a sight I must have been. Too bad I didn't have a video of this one....could have immediately been a winner on Americas Funniest!!! Stars were shining as I looked up to see if the earth had moved. I was finally able to get my bearings and a little traction with the help of a couple of people and up I came. I went into work and decided when my help arrived to go to the emergency room just to be "checked out".
Well, that was an experience not soon forgotten!! Four hours later, I am sent out with no broken bones, muscle strain, ace bandage, and a prescription. Hopefully, I will not have to ever use the services of ER again especially in the winter and on a weekend....Can't say too much since it is my place of employment!!
Ok, I have rambled enough....got to get ready for work tomorrow then off to bed.
Have a good night everyone.
