Merry Christmas

We had a great Christmas. The twins were well and happy. They enjoyed being the center of attention. God has truly blessed our family.
I wish everyone a Happy New Year and may God always be first in our lives.

Old becomes New

This is on old china cabinet my mom used when I was a little girl....yes, that has been looong time ago. HA! I had told her years ago when she got ready to dispose of it ....I wanted it.
She gave it to me about 2 months ago.
I sanded it down and painted it black. I tried to spray paint it but just could not get the look I wanted. After sanding, I painted two coats of satin Behr black paint. When it dried, I used sand paper on the edges to give it a worn look. The handles and pulls were changed to a silver nichol finish. I tried to take better pictures, but just couldn't get the lighting correct.

I am using it in my sewing room to store my fabric stash. Tell me what you think. Do you have any suggestions or ways I could have restored it any better?

Today I put up the Christmas tree hoping it would "get me in the Christmas mood"....I am trying anyway....later.

Happy Thanksgiving to All

We are so thankful. Yesterday was a busy day with family and friends. We had lots of food, lots of laughter, and lots to be thankful for. My mom , step father, and aunt were able to be with us.
My brother and his family. My son and his wife with the twins. Jamie, my older son and his wife were not with us this year as they are in Italy enjoying a holiday there. In fact, I received a couple of videos in my email this morning....lets see if I can post it.

This what I think of pumpkins

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God picks you from the patch and washes all the dirt off of you. He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff. He removes the seedsof doubt, hate, and greed. He carves you a new smiling face and puts
His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.

Second Annual Preemee Birthday Party

Yesterday the boys had their #2 year Preemee Birthday Party at the hospital they were born. The nurses and doctors got to see what little cuties they have become. One older nurse that seemed to always be assigned to them when she was on shift almost cried to see them. Yes, can you tell we are a little proud.

I am still trying to figure out how this blog works with all the changes. I have tried to change up the design and have lost some things. I hope I can get it the way I want it eventually.
Any suggestions??

Law of the Garbage truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport
We were driving in the right
lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in
front of us.
My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other
car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head
around and started yelling at us.
My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was
really friendly.
So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car
and sent us to the hospital!'
This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the
Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around
full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of
disappointment.
As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes
they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their
garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the
streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks
take over their day.
Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,
so ... Love the people who treat you right.
Pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a garbage-free day!

I Love Lucy "Pioneer Women"

Some of you may wonder why is this posted, but if you have know me very long you will know I am forever falling into simular situations as our friends, Lucy and Ethel. I like to refer to them as ...oh no, another Lucy and Ethel drama. I tease my sister in law and call her "Ethel"......

well, here goes the story.....I have made homemade cinnamon rolls for my family for years....I decided last weekend to try a new recipe... what a disaster! The directions called for one quart of whole milk, one cup of veg oil, and one cup of sugar in a medium size sauce pan...heat and open 2 packets of yeast to pour into milk....then add 8 cups flour.....Well, not knowing...I added TWICE the amt of milk I should have....what a mess. I kept thinking as I added the flour....gosh, this is like soup this can't be right......yes, check, medium size pan....thats not the problem......thinking what could it be?? I had to pour into a large mixing bowl as it was coming over the top....I doubled checked yes, it did say medium size pan...but this could not be right....oh no....double the milk.....so to correct..I added more flour....I covered the bowl with kitchen towel to allow it to rise and boy..did it.....OUT of the bowl it came....like a creeping monster....it crawled out of the bowl....over the edge onto the rack, out of the bowl onto the oven floor....oozing along the way....what a mess.....in the middle of all this mess my older son and his wife came to visit....They were quite amused...actually they were rolling on the floor at what I had created....Lovingly my son said, Mom, don't try to fix what is not broken.....Lesson well learned today! So until next time.

Costume

Look, I'm SpiderMan....muscles and all. We're getting ready for Halloween. Mom has been coaching us to say Trick or Treat.....not having much luck with that....but we do know how to
"make the SpiderMan move" with our hands. By the way, I am Prentiss. My YaYa is posting this for my GrandMa and GrandPa in Michigan.

It is almost impossible now to take a picture or video of the boys. They are so amused and curious. They want the cameras at any cost, which usually means YaYa is unsuccessful. The new iPhone is quite entertaining to them. They have no idea they are being recorded. They see themselves in the phone. It is so funny to see their reactions. Maybe you can get an idea if this blog will cooperate.

Please, nobody faint

Ok now guys...nobody faint....I am posting on my blog. I have missed my bloggin, but hopefully will get back into the swing of things.

We had these pictures made about a month ago. The twins are now 20 months of age. Walking, running, talking so much!. Never a dull moment. I feel like singing that song "LOOK WHAT THE LORD HAS DONE"..... For a very long time we had to trust God that they would take their next breath....But look how God has healed and kept them in His hands. We are so grateful.

Another first

The boys are back from Michigan and have gone back to day-care..or as Lil mom calls it "little school". She says she feels less guilty about them being in day care by calling it little school.
They are now in the one year old class and are having to adjust to "greater responsibilities" HA!!

Today was another "first" for them. Mom and Dad took them to have their first haircut.....awwww
YaYa had to work today so I didn't get any photos. Will try to pry some from Lil Mom to share with everyone.

I'll just post some random pics so that my friends can take a peek into a typical week end day...
They love to wagon ride with Chopper.....take a little swim....eat a little sand.....eat a popsicle.....sweep a lttle dust......have a "buckin" fit when it's time to lay it all down and "go INSIDE"......they love "outside".....we are learning what no...no...means....and that is when I have learned to be quiet and "step aside"....let daddy deal with that one!! HA!!!
And....on we go!!!!

They're still gone

Ok, so this is ME

The babies have gone to Michigan. They have been gone for 10 days and I am so ready to see them again....I know, I know it could be worse, they could live VERY far away so I get it. I'll just be glad when they get back home.

The ole leg is still in that beautiful brace you saw on my last post and I am about to go "stir-crazy". Still going to physical therapy.....I so want to get better so I can work in my yard and do all the activities I enjoy.....Sorry, I don't mean to complain....I am blessed. I thank GOD for my health....

On a funny note, my mom just got the cutest little "baby".....see if you can find him. HA HA HA~~isn't he just the cutest little fuzzy? He is a mini schnauzer.

Playmaker

Don't let the title deceive you. It certainly has been no "playin" here. I finally know what my injuries are. Not that it makes me feel any better, but at least I know "it's not all in my head" !! HA!! The fall on black ice last month resulted with a torn MCL (medial collateral ligament) and fracture of the left fibula head. BLAH>>BLAH>>BLAH. It's been doctors visits and physical therapy ever since. The lovely black knee brace I have to wear is named the Playmaker leg brace. I just had a laugh when I was told what kind of brace I would be wearing.

The boys are doing well. Prentiss and Luke are both walking and it is non stop trying to keep up. It would actually be a funny site if it weren't so painful....yaya trying to keep up with them. It won't be long and I will be back to full throttle. Here they are getting ready for bath-time. They absolutely love it..

More later...........

When things start breakin down

Nope, it didn't work... I tried to post from You Tube. Try this link to the I Love Lucy episode. Just click on the link and you will go to You tube.

Hopefully this will work. I miss my little computer friend that used to help me with such things. ... My SIL, (Ethel), and I were talking last night and she reminded me of this episode. This is SO how I feel. A bumb leg, coughing non stop ( and all the problems that come with that for those of us girls who are of a certain age....come on now girls....you know what I mean) refluxing continuous it feels. Elevated temp, runny nose. can't breath.....blah, blah, blah, and oh don't forget the hot flashes in the mix of things. There was a lady I saw in a parking lot at the medical center as I was leaving with my crutches asking if I needed help. I just dropped my head and laughed. She laughed as well and said she had asked her mama....why didn't you tell me how this was going to be....she then laughed and said her mama told her she would not have believed her.....oh how true. and they are talking about snow again tonight. When will this end??? Come on spring time.
A little sunshine could make one feel better.

I saw this on the internet today, thought it was cute.

Women power! A joke story about letting menopausal women loose in Afghanistan to take care of terrorism.
Take all American women who are within five years of menopause. Train us for a few weeks, outfit us with automatic weapons, grenades, gas masks, moisturizer with SPF15, Prozac, hormones, chocolate, and canned tuna - drop us (parachuted, preferably) across the landscape of Afghanistan, and let us do what comes naturally.

Baby Wipes Made at Home

Having twins in the family we use LOTS of baby wipes. The other day I happened to find this on the internet and thought I would give it a try. I really do like them, probably better than the name brand. The smell is wonderful and we don't have to worry about any harsh or drying chemicals touching our babies bottom.

The process is easy and only takes about 15 minutes. This is my first tutorial so hopefully it is helpful.

Products needed: Round plastic container, thick paper towels, sharp knife, 2 cups water that has been boiled and cooled to room temp. 2 tablespoons baby shampoo or baby wash, 1 tablespoon baby oil. We like lavender so you see that is what I chose.

First, start by boiling 2 cups water and let cool to room temp.

Cut roll of paper towels in half with a sharp knife. I would suggest smooth blade not serrated.

Remove the inner cardboard core.
Mix the ingredients in container. Place the paper towels in the container with the cut side facing downward. Secure lid tightly and allow to set until all liquid is absorbed into the paper towels.
Turn the container upside-down and allow to sit for 10 mins.
Open the container and 'start' the roll by pulling a towel from the inside of the roll.
Wipes are now ready to use. I really like them and will save a TON of money. They are gently enough to be used to remove make-up as well. The smell of lavender is so much better than that 'other' smell you get with commercial wipes. Let me know how you like them.
