God Still Answers Prayer
My mother and step-father have been in the VA hospital for 3 weeks. He went in with pneumonia but is also in renal failure and on dialysis three days per week. My mom has taken care of him for the past 6 years or so. It has gotten to the point she is no longer able to provide the amount of care he needs. She has cried and worried so much. While there the doctors drained fluid from this lungs and in the process puncture his lung thus requiring a chest tube to be placed. Yesterday the "doctors" came in and removed the tube telling my mother they were preparing to discharge....mind you he is so weak he cannot lift a straw. She became so upset....well need I tell you when God does something He does it well. In a matter of a couple of hours it was all settled. Arrangements have been made for him to go to a nursing home that is near home and will provide transportation to dialysis. It is also the nursing home his grand-daughter works in as a speech therapist. He will also be able to have physical therapy to try to get some strength back. Please pray for him and Mom that God will continue to strengthen them and give them peace.

Wow..it isn't by mistake you found me.My mom was on Dialysis nine years. My dad her caregiver. In the late stages she stayed so sick and her stomach hurt so bad she only got up for her treatments 3 times a week.It truly wares on the caregiver.Dad had to do the cleaning, cooking, grocers and yard work.
He had done that so long and was tied down, but has no regrets at all.I think that is one reason he doesn't know what to do with himself besides missing her so much.He can't go any where near where they slept an has a hard time going in the kitchen. My mom was the meaning of a Southern woman and cook. When she was so ill she sat at the table and helped some and talked him through.
She was in a recovery center and her liver and stuff finally gave up and her boy started to break down.It was so hard and still is to let her go,but we both wouldn't want her to be and invalid in a bed. Her dignity was gone already having a man help care and clean her.
Thank God for your blog and I will be back.God bless your family I know this is hard.
